Linda B. Port

Linda is a recovering bond attorney after being in practice for nearly 25 years.  She was a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig and before that, a partner at Mintz Levin.  She advised non-profits in financial transactions, including the issuance of tax-exempt and taxable bonds, bank loans, interest rate swap agreements and strategic partnerships.  She also represented underwriters and served as bond counsel on both taxable and tax-exempt financings for non-profits.  She was selected as one of “America’s Leading Lawyers in Business” (Business & Finance:  Public Finance) by Chambers USA, 2012 edition. All of this lead to her role as an expert nonprofit transaction advisor here at SJ Advisors.

Prior to practicing law, Linda was a fiscal research analyst in the Office of Policy Evaluation and Analysis for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.   She analyzed administrative and legislative proposals:  assessed revenue impacts, administrative feasibility and impacts on local governments, business and individuals.

During March and the beginning of April, Linda can be found cheering for her Duke Blue Devils, an affliction she acquired while studying for her double major in Economics and Public Policy, still managing to spend enough time hitting the books to graduate magna cum laude.  During her years at Duke, she did leave the hallowed grounds and spend a semester at the London School of Economics and Political Science.  Linda got her law degree at Boston College Law School, also magna cum laude.

Linda lives with her family in a suburb of Boston where she is actively involved in a variety of volunteer activities.  She is currently Co-Chair of the Finance Committee of Wheelock College, and also serves on the Executive Committee and the Enrollment and Student Success Committee.  She is a Member of the Board of Trustees of Old Colony Hospice, serving on its Finance Committee.  She also has served in a variety of volunteer and appointed positions for the Town of Hingham, including Chair of the Advisory Committee, Chair of the Special Education Funding Working Group, a Member of the Government Study Committee and the Town Administrator Search Committee.  Her coaching days are behind her now that her boys have gone off to college, but she is always up for a mean game of tennis. Plus, her days of rowing crew at Duke have transferred to great skill at kayaking.
